Less common variety, this weight has the symbol 'Эij' at center - the reversed euro-like symbol is the symbol for Scruple, most weights have a '3' or '3-like' symbol representing drams. The 'ij' is an earlier type of Roman symbol for '2' which now is more commonly 'ii'. So the symbol 'Эij' then reads 2 Scruples. A scruple weighs 20 grains or 1.296 grams, so 2 scruples weigh 2.592 grams. Our digital scale puts this weight at 2.6 grams (only 1 decimal place accuracy, so rounded up). On the periphery is the legend TWO SCRUPLES and J.L.B. (unknown mfr.?), we'll leave a little research to the buyer but I am curious if anyone can us who J.L.B. is. Weight has the same design on both sides, one side has a stronger strike and the other a weaker strike, or, perhaps some die filled letters. Overall fairly light wear. One side (main photo) shows what look like die cracks. Please review all photos to determine condition for yourself.”
